Topic: Academic Adjustment
Goal Statement: To create and present a lesson on different learning styles and study strategies and finding out how the students do either currently.
Activities/Resources: Have students take and pass in a learning style quiz.
Create a Power Point Presentation on different learning styles and different study strategies.
Pass out a question about how students in my class currently study for their exams.
Evidence: I will include both Power Points, quiz the students take and the questionnaire on their learning style.
Topic: Involvement
Goal Statement: To immerse my students in an organization or some type of involvement on campus that helps them adapt to URI and have fun.
Activities/Resources: Have students make a flyer representing a club or team they are interested in. They will need to tell when the meetings are, where they are located, and a little bit about what the organization does. It could be anything from an intramural sport to the chess club!
Tell them about organizations I am involved in.
Show the students how to check online for a list of all clubs and organizations on campus.
Evidence: I will include my student’s flyers for their organization of choice. I will also bring in pictures of them presenting their flyers to the class. I will provide information on clubs I am involved in that I presented in class.
Topic: Campus Resources
Goal Statement: To teach my students how to utilize the HELIN Catalog through URI’s library.
Activities/Resources: Have students activate their library cards and take the time while we meet at the library for class for them to have it done.
Have them write down books they need from the library for their classes.
Go through step by step how to access books online through the URI library.
Evidence: I will include pictures of students at the library getting their cards activated. Also, I will include a step by step power point presentation on how to use the catalog and the worksheet I had them fill out when searching for books they needed.
