URI 101 Section 31^
My URI 101 experience was a great one and I do not really have anything to complain about, so I will end up just talking about how great everything was. To start off with, our class was amazing. They were always ready to discuss topics, ask questions, and just be all around great students. We would always say "If you guys get through everything we need to get through, you might be let out early." Every single class time was utilized to the fullest because when we were done with a lesson, they would have questions about classes and such that would take up the rest of the time! There was not one class where a student did not show up without a valid excuse and even then there was one excused absence for the whole semester. My co-mentor and I would do one on ones with each of our students and we found these to be very effective because they all did have so much to say and sometimes would not have the time to say it or ask.
Not only did I have a great class, but I had a great co-mentor. I think we got along great and were able to communicate with our class effectively. Our class respected us as mentors and listened to what we had to say. My co-mentor and I would plan lessons together and be able to both stay on topic and get things done during class. We were mostly on the same page with what it was exactly we wanted to get done in class and the lessons we wanted to present. Class time was never wasted. We would come up with these plans at the end of our CSV class and that seemed to work perfectly for us.
Being a URI 101 mentor was an experience I do not think I could find any where else and it has helped me not only grow as a leader, but also as a student.
